Vista issues 2-5 Steps to Fix Slow Internet

Vista added support for IPv6, improved network protocols for faster detection and transfer. In theory these nice features, the connection to the next level! Just like before, Vista slows down everything with lots of extras. In this article I will show how the speed of your connection by turning off these features.

Step # 1 - Turn off unnecessary network protocol.

Try disabling IPv6 as unnecessary, QoS Packet Scheduler, and filePrinter Sharing, Link-Layer Topology.

Step # 2 - Using static IP.

Try to use a static IP, assign an IP address of the computer, do not rely on DHCP server to assign IP for you.

Step # 3 - Use OpenDNS.

Replace your ISP DNS server with OpenDNS, DNS server or a faster processor (you should try them before you know it).

Go to Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Center -> Manage network connections, selectand highlight the link, right click and choose Properties.

Turn off any protocol side. Highlight and select Properties IPv4, the IP address and DNS servers accordingly. U.S. 208.67.220.220, 208.67.222.222 for OpenDNS servers.

Step # 4 - Increase local DNS cache.

Vista will capture all the DNS records that you access, increasing the cache size to minimize reading.

Go to the registryHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-> System-> CurrentControlSet-> Services> Parameters dnscache->, or change the value below, all in hexadecimal:

cache hash table bucket size = 1

table cache hash size = 180

MaxCacheEntryTtlLimit = ff00

MaxSOACacheEntryTtlLimit = 12d

Step # 5 - Disable TCP Auto Tuning.

This would be the main reason, or to try other settings off. You must manually configure the TCP settings if you disable this feature.

Use this"netsh interface for global autotuning = Off" to disable auto tuning, "netsh interface for global autotuning = normal" to put on auto-tuning. All commands must be run as administrator.
