As visitors to your website - DNS - Domain Name System

If the owner of a website, you probably hear the term "DNS" and "server name" from time to time. So what is DNS and how does it work?

Any device that connects to the Internet - it's the home computer, a phone or a web server hosting, was issued with an IP address (Internet Protocol).

An IP address is a unique set of numbers assigned to a device that can not be used by another device at the same time.

While the computerbe assigned a different IP address each time you access the Internet from home, web hosting services have a range of addresses assigned to those who usually do not change.

It 's much easier to remember a domain name for a set of numbers - and this is where DNS (Domain Name System) is crucial.

DNS does the magic, the translation of the name in a number of IP address through a DNS server or the server name. The Domain Name System ismillions of servers around the world, but behaves as a single database.

When you enter a Web address in your browser, the browser contacts a server name to an IP address equivalent. The first time you connect to the Internet for an online session, the name of the browser to access the specified server and ready for use.

If the server name that has not had a request to the domain name you typed in the recent and all the data is not cached,to contact a server. If the primary server has no information from the cache, forward the request to a server that handles extending the highest level, as as.com.au. A server information management all.com.au give information about the IP address and give them back.

Once everything is resolved, the browser is directed to the name server where host is the IP address assigned to the web, the host server looks at therequest and the appropriate page of the site is properly restored.

Although this sounds very complex and even the above is very simplified since the browser request to the hosting service is not just seconds - and thinking, much of this complexity and the need for domain names is simply too because that we are not very good at remembering strings of numbers!
